Default Rust Kills

If its not one thing its another, I guess thats the baggage that comes with a 22yr old bike, well any machine with moving parts I guess...

Throttle Cable 'B' Rusted all the way through..

I dont know how long its been rusted through.. its been awhile for sure. Whats the point of this secondary cable? smoother roll on the throttle or what? Obviously I been riding on just one cable since I bought the thing. Its always gave me a lil kick (thought it was normal) when I pull the throttle, and seems to 'snap' shut fairly quickly when letting off. hm...

Anyways went to Honda and got a new one on order, $22USD and 5-7days later i'll have it. I dont want to leave any stone unturned, especially ones dealing w the throttle, haha.

Another question, has anybody changed these w the carbs on the bike? I have mine off right now for the adjustments I been doing, but want to get them back on so I can get em all synced up. Plus I hate leaving openings in the motor, doesnt seem healthy. It seems like a bear to get the 'B' Cable off. When carbs are in place, due to the fact there isnt much room between the carbs and engine block. Just might have to wait 5-7days... blah.

They're not hard to fit. A little fiddly but not hard. Extend the "B" cable so that you have as much as possible protruding out of the outer sheath. Then line up the solderless nipple with the hole in the quadrant & with the help of a small screwdriver press it into position. Once its in place then you can work on the "A" cable. That one you can at least turn the quadrant to gain easier access. once both cables are in place lock up the "B" cable & adjust the free play with the "A". I set mine so there is almost no free play but also no binding. Hope this helps.

I think the secondary cable is just for added safety....unless it's rusted through. I never leave openings in a motor, not even over night. I always jam some rags in there just in case. I agree with you about rust. It's a real *****! I had much more trouble when I was in England though, because of all the salt. Seemed like every second bolt was rusted..good thing WD40 was invented hey guys .

I couldn't do them without removing the carbs on the F-L model, but maybe I'm just not thinking.............
Purpose of the two cables is to push and pull the throttle bodies, so it's not all force on one cable which might stick......

I thought it was a legal requirement on bikes over a certain hp rating.
