Rev Limiter / ICM

Just had my Bucket of Bolts at the shop
- Fixed Oil Leak (gear lever cover, replaced gasket and seals)
- New Clutch (Fibres only)
- New Oil & Filter
- Carbies Balance
- Wallet emptied

He reckons the bike is pretty good for 130Km, well there's a first. . .
He says that the rev fault is the speed limitter kicking in, not 100% sure but mostly.
He didn't have a wiring diagram, but says if I can diconnect the Rev Limiter buy pulling the wire for it, then I will know and the bike should run fine, as long as I don't over rev it.

I had a look at the maunal and there does nor seam to be a wire for it - Is there?
If not, does anyone have - loan me / sell me a ICM or place where I can get one cheap for a 94' . Please

Thanks

I hit the rev limiter just once (by accident) - felt like I'd run into a wall ! Comes in just beyond 10500 RPM on my bike. Up to that point I didn't even know it had a rev limiter ![X(]
I wouldn't disconnect it, even if I knew how. PM me if you need the wiring diagrams.
Secondhand ICM's are a gamble at best- I only have a spare ICM for an 88 model, if it'll help.....
check the part numbers at www.mrcycles,com

It feels like the bike has seized - I immediately pulled clutch and brake, and when the "happy engine rumble" was still there, realised what had happened. NOT a good feeling ![X(]

Under spirited or hard riding, what rpm are you guys reaching? I have only been to 8k once, and felt that was enough. Dont ever plan on redlining..........but my brother is coming to town this weekend on his FZ 1. We are just so competitive with each other!! :)

Torque peak is around 8500 RPM, so I generally stick to that - the motor will pull strongly in any gear beyond about 5000 though, but there are times........when the lead implant in my right wrist takes over...[X(]

I take mine to the limiter a fare bit. It will rev to 11000 then drop back to10500.I think thats taco bounce in the low gears. but on servere down shifts up to near 12000. I have a 88 icmif you wont to see if it fixes the fult if thay fit. The early bikes had twopick ups on the crank.

When you hit the limiter the engine goes flat. The box is not hard to wire to the bike from a88.
