I have an cbr 1000 F (1987) with more or less 80.000 km.

I have a very big problem. The tensioner of the chain of the alternator is partial broken. I have the repair manual, but i do not want to pull down all the engine for change it.

I have read an article of this forum (

about changing the damper of the altyernator. My question is : it is possible change also the tensioner with the same procedure ?

It was my second byke when i was very young , i have a lot of good memories and i want to repair her.

I will verify and let you know, but there are big big chances you might have to split the cases..

 

i'm almost certain the tensioner is bolted into the upper half of the case and the only way to get to it is to split the cases and remove the crankshaft

 

You are able to replace the damper by removing the alternator/stator.
Many of us have done so.
Unfortunately as Malbojah has said, if you want to replace the tensioner you will have to split the engine cases.
HenryM did a temporary repair by attaching a small metal rod to the tensioner spring, but it didn't last very long. The idea was good, though.
