replacing all bulbs to LED's
 
Hi,
I just bought a 1996 1000F. The bike is being shipped so I haven't seen it yet. Pics to come.

I am thinking of changing all of the bulbs to LED's.The turn, taillight, license plate, but not the headlight yet since I am only interested in pug and play, not an extra install and box.
Is this a god or bad idea?
I prefer LED's because of the low draw as well as they are much brighter especially the tailight.

The brightest headlight recommendations also wanted.

LED's are great for brightness and less current draw. They cost a lot more and last almost forever. Problem is they are very directional and you will need a good 360* bulb. The other problem will be the flashers will blink super fast, because the system thinks there is a burnt bulb. You have to provide the correct resistance with an LED Flasher module or Load Resistor Kit, neither a Plug and Play. There is cutting and welding to do.

Thanks! Is the hyperflashing bad forthe ike? I like the sound of having the blinkers flash really fast.

As far as I know, no ill effects on electrical system other than, the LED will burn sooner???
I too like the hyper flash, I have it on my older car like that.
I mean how often do you use them or leave them on???
I think the wear is nil.

LED's are designed to be capable of switching on and off thousands of times per second (depending on the specific component in question), so a hyperflash from a stock flasher unit is not exactly an impediment to the lifespan of the LED.

Know that every watt you free up by switching to an LED is another watt that your stator will have to heatsink (unless you have switched out to a series style regulator). Too bad most motorcycle electrical systems are still in the dark ages.

You could switch out the running/brake with 360° bulb. I have however, I wouldn't worry about the turn signals. They only cause a load when turning and they blink so...only when turning they are only on 1/2 the time. If you do decide that it's to much of a load you could change out the front bulbs because Honda uses them as running lights. If you switch to LED turn bulbs up front and leave the rear as normal bulbs, you should have enough load so that the factory flasher should work.
Try it and see.
