Default replaced starter clutch

Removed engine and replaced the starter clutch on my1990 cbr100fl. Using the procedures in the honda manual. And suggestions from my last post. reassembled and tested. Engine still turns like something is causing to drag. yhe only part that i did not replace was the bearing at the end of the altinator shaft assembly. (My question to everyone ,could this bearing possibly cause the motor to turn over slowlyand even slower when the motor warms up? ) I believe it could possible be,But before I tear into the motor again I would like opinions of other owners. I love this bike and don't want to have to replace it.[&o]

Did you replace the Alternator Dampener? This causes the same symptoms as starter clutch.

pretty easy once I put some thought into it. Built a special rack so I could turn motorcycle on its side witout it touching the ground. then removed shiifter linkage, and related assemblies, removed alternator, starter clutch placed a clamp on the dampner teninsor to put slack in the starter chain. removed dampner and installed the new dampner an reassembled. worked like a charm and took less than two hours. already had all fairings off. hope I won't have to do again for another 50,000 miles.

So you didn't have to drop the engine?

found that dropping the engine was really not needed.

Your a legend. Everywhere you go they all say you have to drop the engine because you cant get the starter clutch and alternator dampener off the chain.

Nice workaround.
