Default QUIET exhaust please!!

Here's the deal: my '90 has a cruddy stock header and some cool looking old Yoshi pipes. buuuut the Yoshis are too loud for me. I plan on repacking just as a matter of maintenance but I really doubt it will help much, they don't seem to be rattling.

One of my planned upgrades includes a new stainless header and new link pipes (thinking Delkevic) and I was considering the biggest Delkevic cans I could find (18") in hopes that they would be quiet. Can I ever hope to find anything new as quiet as stock? Should I scour ebay for used stock cans?

Here are my other considerations: here is a no-name set at a reasonable price but I don't know if they will ship to the US for a good rate. I like the 4into1 and this one says I can keep my centerstand (a must). Anyone running this? My other thought was V&H's 4-2-1 system. I've heard this compromises low-end power though which is very important to me. The single can seems cool to me, seems like a nice weight savings.

Any suggestions? Is there a way to mod my Yoshis for Goldwing-like silence?? Help me out people.

...and no I'm not 80 and afraid of noise, I have just discovered loud bikes get tickets and I can speed all day on the quiet ones

Damn, those seem expensive. If you want quiet, you could probably get a set of stock mufflers for $100 or so.
The rest of it (ss header/collector/etc) are only made by a few manufacturers, so I would just find the most economical one. People seem to like the delkevic ones ok enough.

I just wonder how loud those Delkevic cans are though. I didn't see a db rating and I don't know what the stock db are either for comparison.

I had a 75 Suzuki GT550. The engine was stock, but the suspension was highly modified. Everyone thought I was an idiot for modifying the suspension until we hit the mountain curves.

The GT was a three cylinder with four exhausts. For maintenance, I could unscrew the baffle in each exhaust and take it out. They actually sold special fiberglass mats for two-strokes that I could wrap around each baffle, wrap with stainless wire, and reinsert. Can you still do that with aftermarket exhaust? I think any fiberglass mat will work.

Man those gt550s were sweet! Also what I'm hoping is that there is some sort of insert or packin I could use in my yoshis. Of course I plan on repackingwith new fiberglass but a more restrictive baffle would be nice. Cheap and easy is preferable.

Nexus Pipes are quiet, don't know if you get them over there though.

As Trout says, stock maybe the best bet, you just need the patience to wait for them.

I like quiet pipes for the same reason as you. Knock it into top and she'll whisper along at highly illegal speeds.

I've got a Delkevic stubby on my 600 and its loud as sin. The 18" will be a bit quieter, but they don't have baffles.

Any restricters will reduce your engine power - stands to reason.
I'd say stock pipes are the answer.
