Question 'bout stock bars
I have Heli brand risers that were installed on my '96 and was wondering how big a difference ther really is from the stock bars.I don't make a whole lot of long road trips, but for around town are the stock bars that much lower than Heli bars that it becomes uncomfortable within 1/2 hour?
Also was wondering what years are interchangeable with my 96?? I think I would like to find some stock barsjust to satisfy my curiosity. If anyone has some they would like to sell (or donate lol) let me know. aAbout how much $$do they normaly go for?
Don't get me wrong.. I sit really comfortable with the Heli bars.. I just always like trying different ways. Thanks for any help!!

RE: Question 'bout stock bars
I can answer this one, since I bought my 95 with stock bars and shortly afterwards I swapped them out for a set of Telefix adjustable bars. The short answer is that they make a huge difference- especially around town. Raising the bars a couple of inches completely takes the weight off of your wrists and significantly increases the comfort level. This is more so true around town because the weight on your wrists is at its most extreme when using the brakes in stop and go traffic. Furthermore, the upright riding positon makes it much easier to turn your head to check your blind spot before changing lanes, which you do much more often on local roads than you do on the open highway. As far as riding on the open road, the difference is less pronounced. At a steady 70 mph the wind on your upper torso tends to take a lot of the weight off your wrists and you only occasionally have to brake to a stop or to check your blind spot. There are some on this board who might disagree with me, but I think I am safe in saying that few on this board have ridden their bikes with both the stock bars and with raised bars installed.
Having said all that, I'd be glad to trade you a set of stock bars for your helibars.
