Ok, with the cable PLUGGED INTO the R/R, I'm getting normal AC voltages between 2 of the 3 possible yellow wire combinations. The 3rd on sticks at about 14 volts AC even when I rev it.

Stator issue, or R/R issue?

To check the stator, you have to check at the stator wire connection, it's out put is in ac, 55, 60 volts. Check the manual.
All three yellow wires should have the same output.

The rr, also gets hot very quickly, so sometimes just touhing that it's warm, is a sign it may be working.

If it's cold, then I would for sure check stator out out, the red connenor on side left, take side plastic panel off.

I will add that the one place does rebuild, stator, but only the early model. Not the included aluminum one. I asked.

Get a good, rr, $112, no ebay ones, I bought 3 of them. Lol. All were under $60. None worked.

Between 2 of the 3 combinations, I get about 50vac. The third combination sticks at 14vac. That's WITH the connector plugged into the R/R. With it unplugged, I get nothing between any of them. I remember that same thing with my DRZ. The ohm reading between all 3 of the yellow wires is correct and there are no shorts to ground. So the question IS, can a bad R/R cause the issue I'm seeing? And if you could, please provide a link to the GOOD R/R because I'm going to order one anyway and see what happens when I install it. The one on the bike now is smaller than what I've seen and there are no heat sinks on it, even.

Are Rick's R/R's the "good" ones? $140

Ok, I ordered one last night. I'll keep everyone posted if that corrects my issue or not. Fingers crossed!

OK....installed the new R/R. I now have 14-15vdc at the battery around 3k. I couldn't get over 13vdc with the other one, even at 5k. Should be good to go!

Damn that was fast work and delivery!

Pleased to see you've resolved the issue.
