possibly selling my 1kf
i received a pretty sweet offer on my bike today. its not even for sale but i am temped. its more than i have into it, and probably more than i would ever got for it.
but there is also an awesome deal on an r6 that i want to scoop up. 2001 r6 with under 8k miles for $2600 in MINT shape.
any thoughts?

The only thing I would caution against is comfort. The r6 is faster, handles better, and stops better but you will be significantly more uncomfortable doing it. I drove a gsxr1000 before the hurricane and I would take the gsxr on the track any day but for actual drivability the hurricane is the only choice. There are no public roads where you can use all that the hurricane has.

Yeah there are! And its perfectly legal as long as you don't get caught..............
I agree with your thoughts though pmcg. I migrated from a GSX-R750 to a Suzuki TL1000S (still gives me a thrill chill down my spine) to a much more sedate Gentlemen's Express, the Kawasaki GTR1000 - or Concours in the USA. And much long distance travel, which was totally usuited to the previous two bikes, was undertaken.
The CBR1000F was a lusted after bike for many years until one came up at the right price (read very cheap). I see this bike as a nice mid-way bike between the ball tearers and the GTR. I can see myself (and possibly my partner) doing some longish trips on it.
Still wouldn't part with my other bikes though.
Cheers, SB

I think the obvious thing here is " why someone offered you a sweet deal"??
because you already have a sweet ride man !!!
An R6 ..... you go for it if you like short and yer fast , burst of pain ....
good luck and .... may I be forward enough to say ...you will regret that swap man if you make it?? :-)

Keep the CBR and get the R6. After the newness wears off, see which one spends more time in the garage.
I have the March, 2001 issue of Motorcycle Consumer News where they compare the R6, GSX-R600, ZX-6R, CBR600F4i, and Triumph TT600. The CBR won, with the R6 in second place. They liked the R6's tiny and narrow size, high quality suspension, and great looks and excellent attention to detail. They said it was the worst shifting, had soft mid-range, and was a tight fit for larger riders.
By the way, the 1000F blows away the R6 on 0-60. And don't expect to have happy passengers on the R6.
