Pants
HI,just want to know every ones opinion on pants.I are there any alternatives
to wearing leathers, what are you using for general touring.I do wear a leather jacket most of the time, but I do not always like wearing leather pants. |
After my spill last year it is only leather for me. it saved my skin.

I wear Draggin jeans on my bike these days. When I was a young bloke I always wore leather pants and jacket. The jacket's a bit..er..snug now and I've got bugger all chance of getting the pants on...gave the missus a good laugh when I tried though.
IMO leather is the best! The Kevlar lined jeans will do the job too (I hope) and are quite cool. The lining tends to rub a bit so I wear shorts underneath though. |
The jacket's a bit..er..snug now and I've got bugger all chance of getting the pants on...gave the missus a good laugh when I tried though. I used to do ALL leather way back in the good ol days .... but as Ive gotten older , its all textile and Kevlar Jeans for this rider ... They stretch to fit my varying shape and are warm under my wets in real chitty weather ... The best pants , no matter what they are , are the ones that the rider don't let hit the bloody road at anytime ... that's my theory !! and yer Dave , as we are the only ones here ATM , om followin yu around the boards mate :icon_teeth: ...lolol |
Leather for me I'm afraid, they get hot in the summer but I'll combine them with an airflow jacket with hard armour and a wet 'T'shirt in the really hot weather :icon_screwy: (I know the mind boggles :D)
My favourite leather pants are by Hein Gericke, they have a soft type of armour called Hiprotec which is supposed to disperse impact like hard armour but is soft and flexible, so very comfortable. My only quibble with them is, they don't have a full connecting zip, only a short one at the back. |
Between the two of you "used to go all leather" and "wet 't' shirt" (I'm trying my hardest not to let my mind boggle!!) I'll be lucky to get to sleep tonight for the horrors:D:D.
Top Gear's just about over and I'm off to bed. Nighty night lads. |
I was looking at getting a pair of kevlar lined jeans,or maybe textile pants,I know that
they do not offer the same protection, just want to know what the riders from this forums experience with them is like.I still intend to buy leather pants but not the full race pants with the pucks and all that, just something simple. Thanks everybody for your input so far. |
Leather al the time
I have two leather suits. Both are zip together two piece One is a Honda brand. Its for summer riding. The pants and jacket have tiny perferations to let air flow through. The other is a Joe Rocket CBR suit for cool weather. The jacket has a zipout liner. The neat part is that the zippers match so I can wear either pants with each jacket
|
I wear double-front Carhartt canvas jeans w/ dirt riding knee/shin armor under them. They are at least as protective as any textile-only riding pants, and are a lot more versatile. I have Draggin Jeans too, but since I discovered the Carhartts I don't wear them any more, as these are more resilient in a get-off (don't ask how I know this).
