Overheating?
 

I was riding the other day and a decent amount of liquid was coming out of my overflow hoses under my bike.

Today after riding about 35 minutes to work, all freeway; when I got off the bike I heard water boiling. Went to the gas station after work to fill up my radiator and it was already full.

Anyone have any advice?

Faulty thermostat? and does the fan work?

I could also be the water pump. By removing the thermostat, if you still see overheating it may be the pump.

I have checked thermostats by placing them in a pot with water and heating it up. The thermostat should open at the desired temp. A candy thermometer helps.

What was the Temp guage reading ???

Make sure you have a proper mixture of antifreeze and water. If you don't have enough antifreeze then the boiling point of the mixture (your coolant) will be lower than you need it to be, which will result in premature boiling. If it were me the first thing I would do would be to drain the coolant and put the proper ratio of coolant and water into the radiator. Water boils at 212 degrees fahrenheit which your motor will easily reach even on the freeway. Antifreeze not only decreases the freezing point of the mixture, but it also increases the boiling point of the mixture. By the way, I passed organic chemistry =)

Also check, if your fan is starting, if it is, check the overflow tube in your reserve tank if the overflow tube goes down too low in the tank, as soon as the coolant expand and the level rise in you reserve tank, it will spit it out, thinking that the level is too high.

Cure: cut the hose within the thank to half or take it out completly.

I had the same problem.

And now it is perferct, also check if your O rings are not dry, if it is you might have a small leak, which drops the pressure in the system, collant that is not under pressure will reach the boiling point faster.

I don't have any guages.. Ima flush the coolant and check the thermostat this weekend
