i bought my bike about a month ago(87 1000). i tore it apart and started doing custom bodywork, needless to say i rode it around town but never got it out on the highway over 70. here comes the stupidity, i have a 5 speed.... right? the only reason i ask is heard the 90's have 6 speeds.

A way you can have a 5 speed in a cbr1000 is if someone transplated a cb1000f big one motor in it, which is a direct bolt in. They have
less peak HP, but more mid torque, and a more polished top cover, than what comes on the hidden cbr motor. It was a trade some CB1kf big 1
fighter guys used to do when they wanted to add some cheap HP is buy a older cbr1kf and trade power plants. The big one not only is a 5 speed
but has milder cams too, and had in some markets more hi perf parts for it , (cams, fcr carbs, ported heads, and ignitions) in 94-98 time frame
when they were more popular.
