No, I didn't even think about it. I'm using Mobile 1 10w-30. Might have to switch over to motorcycle stuff. Good call.

I've always used motorcycle oil in motorcycles. Aside from clutch slip I've never heard of increased oil consumption using car oil.

Becareful with using the 10W 30 as I beleive it may have friction modifiers.

Now that you guys mention it, and I hadn't noticed till now, but the clutch does slip more then I thought it would. I'm betting it is the Mobile one. I best get some Cycle oil for my next change. Thanks guys, boy do I feel dumb.

the guy I bought my bike from had replaced the clutch, he said it was because the prior owner used car oil - hope it didnt cause permanent damage.

Sh*t I hope not. When I get her all painted up and ready to go I'll flush out the mobile one and replace with some good cycle oil. Now I'm worried!

Hey:

Just drain the old 10w30 m1 out and add vtwin 20w50 cycle m1 in it, and see if that makes a difference. I don't think I would do a diesel flush until I tried that 1st . I would run a little thicker oil in it than 10w30 anyway if you live in MD as the 95 CBR 1000F owners handbook pg 74 recs 10w 40 as std and 20w 50 or 15w 40 for that part of the USA, MD - South , 0 - 40 Cel /32-100 deg F avg temps.

I tried 20-50 in my Valkyrie one time cause they were out of the 10-40 and it took forever to get started. It was so bad I turned the bike off, drained the $4/qt oil immediately and drove to a different dealership for 10-40. Anyone have experience with 20-50 in this bike?

Same here, I use Honda oil in my 600F4 and yeah it doesn't blow blue or leak and yet the oil level goes down a bit, 2/3 quart, after a few thousand miles.
