Default Oil changes: distance or time?

Just wondering how you guys go about changing oil/filters on your bikes. Do you do it every 6 months or 6000k? (please use metric, the imperial system belongs in the last century)

I change mine every 6000k and I use synthetic.

Guess I belong in the last century. Figuring out how many kilometers equals 2,000 miles is a pain. I change at 2,000 miles. Filter every time. Change every spring to start the cycle over since roads are ususally too slick to ride from November through the end of February or into March. Dang, it's depressing to think of that. There's only a couple months of decent riding left before the winter layoff.

I am sorry that the whole of the United States is stuck in the last century.

I change mine at between 3K and 5K. About three times a year. Time usually isn't a factor for me.

Maevis only has 10,000 km on her,but I've changed the oil, and filter, once already, at 5,000 km because of color. My riding skills (lack thereof)are hard on the bike, and the enhanced friction discolors the oil, making it very dark
"Imperial System"? Is that what we use? Mental Image of Darth Vader measuring with a ruler.

Hey:

I check the oil and chain every week ie., 500 miles, change the filter every other month and the oil
every quarter, or whenever it gets a dirty look to it.
I use Shell Rotella 10w40 synthetic in cooler months, Mobil 1 20W50 V TWIN bike oil in the hot
Carolina summers. The bike now has 75,000 miles of hard use and is still my daily driver and
will be for awhile to go. I have not done anything maintenace to the bike
other than brakes 3x f and r, clutch 1x, chain sprockets 3x due again and tires 5x f 12x r.

I do the same.My scheduleis to change it every 5000 km butit is mostly changedearlier since the gearboxbecomes clunky after about 3000 km (on the bird). Oil is not very expensive if one avoid to buy the overpriced top brands at thelocal shops.
