Hey Shadow, does it sound like the vid? 'asthmatic geriatric'. If so I'd deffo say it was the damper but since you already have the starter clutch, pop it in and give her a try. The job of removing/replacing the alternator shaft without the starter clutch is quite easy, no bending tabs and tying up chains. A couple of points to remember and do.
When taking out the shaft after removing the alternator cover don't forget the the alternator case comes out with the shaft too (I forgot that one).
When putting shaft back in to the bearing at end, make sure the socket that fits on end has same O/D as shaft(17mm) so it goes thru the bearing ok.
When putting alternator cover back on don't just tighten up one at a time, slowly just nip them up clock or anti clock wise so it goes on square to the little bearing on end, and most important to remember is the tension of 7Nm which aint very much.
But if you want to wait until I send you out plates, let me know.

Hi Pete!
I see you have reached the same spot many us have already been.
And all your questions seem to be answered also
I was doing my fork seals this weekend - i must say it was a lot easier than i would ever think - i didn't even need to take off any fairings
And as the forks has done my bike is back on the street from the little crash i had few weeks ago - still a bit paint job to do but all in all seems to be ok

Clutch plates
Hi Shadow, as you know I've no been well as of late and not been outside hardly(I'm improving now), so my mate just came back onshore yesterday and I got him to bring across the old damper to me. I'm just about to send these off to you today, 3 sets of plates and a end washer. I've kept 3 for myself, just in case. Hope this will do the job for you.
