OE Exhausts for a 1997 CBR1000F

Hi, I have just joined the CBRforum and am looking for help regarding a question on exhaust systems. I recently purchased a 1997 CBR1000FV which has a "Black widow" four into one exhaust system fitted. I know it is becoming difficult to source but I am looking at fitting an OE exhaust system if I can find a system in reasonable condition. So my question is; will OE exhausts systems from previous model years fit?

Welcome to the forum.

I think the exhaust headers from '89 on will fit.

Compare part numbers here:-

Honda Motorcycle OEM Parts, MRCycles

(actually the part numbers seem to match up '89 on).

The main problem is the position of the exhaust hanger on the collector box was repositioned after the MK1 bike '87-'88.

One solution would be stainless after market down pipes and original end cans. The original mild steel down pipes were prone to rust. Stainless down pipes can be picked up second hand quite cheaply.

a few months back I was still seeing them still available new from the parts warehouses. I am guessing the only differance in the part numbers from 89 on would be the color of the paint.
