Default Not too worried... yet.

As I've mention I'm getting ready to do my cam chain & cct. I had an odd fluke that's happened 2x over about month. While riding along in traffic; 1st gear low speeds and HOT outside. My gal for no real reason just died on me. The last time she tried to die a few times but revved her back up, but eventually died. After dying she fired right back up with no other complications. Its only happened 2x and it fired right back up without issue.

I've heard of people having vacuum issues with their fuel tanks, but I figured if it was this, it'd be a much bigger problem, ie: not restarting, dying at high speeds, more often, ect. It didn't do this untill after my diesel oil change, but the temp here has also gone up.

So a few ideas.....

It this just in my head?
Could the oil change affected my plugs? (they are not old)
Bad gas?
Timing issue due to needing to do my cam chain?
Fuel filter / pump?

Its not a big deal and its not too worriesome, just kinda nagging me.

Vapor lock?
I had a full dress Yamaha XS1100 that did that a couple of times. Sure enough, it was hot as hell, the bike would just die, cool off a little, start right back up. Someone told me it was "vapor lock" so that's my diagnosis.

I guess what I'm really trying to say is I have no freakin idea!

YA YA, I actually thought that too, I dont know either. I figured she just didn't like idling in the heat as all our girls don't. As soon as I was at speed and she cooled a bit; right as rain. The ONLY thing that pulled me away from a vapor /vacuum issue was it restarted immedaitely, no cool down period. Fired right back up. And she wasn't too hot. maybe about little less than 3/4? So hot but not red.

micheal, mine did the same thing a couple times one summer.

I blamed it on pinching the tank vent after working on it. It hasn't done it in well over a year.

I think I talked to shadow about it at the time, too, and if I remember correctly he had the same issue once or twice.

even the slightest pinch or restriction in the fuel line can cause it to vaporize. this is a hard problem to diagnose because its so intermitent. i personnally would try moving the fuel lines, if it still happens... i feel sry for ya... ha thats hard, so many possibilities

Yep, exactly.
I can't even remember if the tank vent was actually pinched. I think it was, though.
