Default no fuel, NEED HELP!

My bike has been cutting out and acting as if it was out of gas. I wanted to check the screen at the petcock so I drained and removed the tank to check it out. I didn't find anything that looked too bad so I reassembled it and refilled the tank. I noticed that no fuel would come out of the petcock when it is turned on. I figured that this was normal, so I fired it up to go for a ride today and it ran out of gas with a full tank![:@]
Does anyone know what I should check first? Also, with other bikes that I have had , fuel would always come out from the petcock if it was turned to on even if the bike was not running. Any Ideas?

The auto fuel shutoff is activated by the smaller vaccume line that runs from the the #1 intake port.
Sounds like the line maybe faulty.

These bikes do not have electric fuel pumps, they are gravity fed. Gas ONLY comes out when the bike is running, via a vacuum line connectected next to the gas line on the petcock. Pull the fuel line, turn petcock to the on position and crank the engine over (no need to start it) if fuel doesnt come out of the petcock the vacuum line or petcock vacuum diaphragm is faulty. If gas comes out look elsewhere for problem.

-87-88 (H and J models) have an electric fuel pump and a fuel filter...

Edit:
But now his machine is from 91.. so it doesn´t have an electrical fuel pump, but is there a filter?

#6 is the vacuum tube..

I found the problem last night! I had connected the vacuum hose to the vent outlet! That will teach me not to work on the bike in the dark after having a couple of Coronas. Thanks for all of the help and feedback!
