New tire sizes for my 88 Hurricane 1000
All
I had two new tires put on the Hurricane today. I ended up going with the Dunlop Q2 tires. I went with a 160/60/17 on the back with no width problems at all and went with a 120/70/17 in the front. The bike handles great. Must say I was not sure the 160 would fit, but it did it was about 1/8 from the plastic chain guard. The other side had plenty of room. Both rims are stock size.
The bike looks so much better.

hi all, we are several of us that have put wider rims on the 88f, it is almost a str8 fit, the only you have to do is the spacer, and for the front wheel you might want to get the clucth cover of a second gen or third gen with the speedo cable as the old cable won't fit with the newer wheels.
As far as the handling is concerned 120 up front and 180 in the back is great , as long as you have the good tires, which means: adapted tires for the bike, michelins and Avons are the top, in fact with the Avons the bike is quicker steering then before as I am able to follow or beat an sv650 in the twisties...
Cheers if you want pics I can post some!

Turning response is quicker in my opinion. I went 250 miles today up in the mountains to help break in the tires LOL. They handle great and stick. As with any tire get about 30 - 40 miles on them before dropping the hammer in the corners. Overall I am very pleased with the Dunlop Q2's Check them out you won't be disappointed. They look great and perform.
