New to red, wht and blue 90' CBR
Anyone tell me the oil capcity on my 1000? Anyone have a spare owners manual?
Just bought this bike to commute on. Body is near perfect and it has 24k on it. Love it so far but need opinions- 2 days after I got it I had a 97 tl1000s w/4k miles offered to me for 2500.00 from a friend. I know that is a deal, really not sure if it is worth the hassle of selling my cbr. I don't think they are the easiest to sell these days. Any opinions? Thanks.

Oil capacity at oil and filter change is 3.8 Litres, after disassembly it's 4.5 litres.
I can't offer you any advice on selling your bike or prices. I've got 2 bikes for sale and I can't shift them for sensible money, the bike market here is crazy at the moment.
Cheers,
Rob

97 TL1000 for $2500 is great deal. If I were you I would go for it. I bought my 1987 Hurricane last Sep. from my semi-friend for $2000. Later I felt that was little too much for the model year, but good thing is the bike had only 14k miles. Compared to my deal, 1997 TL1000 for $2500 is great. I bet TL1000 has much better gas mileage than CBR. If you commute with your bike daily, I recommend TL1000. Sell your CBR for $2500. People NEED bike in summer lol.

The TL wasn't the most econimcal bike. Like the Super Chicken, it can be a gas hog. There were also was some chassis issues IIRC that were finally sorted in the last year. There's a reason Suzuki didn't make them for long. People didn't buy them. There were better bikes and deals at the time. Many now have been owned by stunta's and wheelied to within an inch of their lives. If this is the case plan on doing things like fork seals and steering head bearings. If it's been geared down you can bet it was for wheelies. If you know the history and it's not been abused, that's a good price. If you are unsure, you might end up spending $$ to make it right. Also make sure it's not a salvage title.

Thanks for the comments. I have heard the tl gets around 31mpg,depending on the FI mapping or something or if it has had the factory fix Suzuki came out with. I get 43 w/my cbr. Looks like the tl was a garage queen. Stock but has some lights under the body. I figure I would need tofind somebody that wants a cbr for a reason before it would sell. Kindalike why I picked it up. I love the cbr and the body is so great I would get sick if it tipped over in a parking lot. Like many I assume, parts for a 17yr. old bike starts to creep into the back of your mind. Cosmetics mosty, if something happened. Biggest draw back to the deal is re-selling the cbr (plus I like it and have no reason to sell other than to get the tl) andtaking a lossto sell it. I tested the market here to see if anyone was interested but had no response.
Thanks again, keep them coming.
