Thumbs up New rear wheel

Hi have reads the threads about fitting the later rear wheel into the early bikes and how much diference it makes to the handling, so I looked in ebay and found a guy braking a 92 bike and bought the wheel and spindle with spacers for £40. I was well happy when it arrived with an almost new 180x55x17 tyre on it. So armed with the info from you guys and a few tools this morning I fitted it. Took about 2 hours and a set of new brake pads for safety and peace of mind. Its done and wow does it ever look a loot better. Just come back from a test ride and you were dea right. The differece is quite staggering, it turns un much better and gripps so well I can't believe its the same bike. I would advise any on with an early bike do do this conversion. In total with the new pads it cost £73 and well worth it,

Thanks for the tip, I have myself an '88 model, will see if I can find the wheels of a newer model, since here in Mexico the CBR was sold only until 1988.

The newer bikes would be imports from the states.

Cheers!!
Luis

Hi Luis its only the rear wheel that you can change. The front doesn't fit so others say. To do the rear conversion you have to remove the rear hugger and just use the chain guard of it,but it is worth it. Keep on riding and enjoying Malc

Hi all

The front wheel from later bikes fits you only have to put the spacers of later years see my post on this, the only thing you have to find sprocket cover of a later year to fit the speedometter cable.
