Default NEW PAINT old bike

hey all, i just painted my 87 1000f and thought i'd give you guys a look. and YES i know it only has 1 mirror but thats only for the moment. AND YES, im about to mount my flush-mounts. i just got eager to show her off. I would however like some feedback on wether or not i should paint the rims the same color as my stripes or leave them red.

i have posted b4 and after pix and i'll post a video under this

Nice paint job! For me red and blue just don't do it. I'd pick another color for the wheels, but must say the white wheels on my '91 and hard to keep looking nice. But that's just me. It's your bike and if you like the color combo just ignore me.

Remembering what opinions are like, I'm inclined to agree with DRam. Matching the color to the stripe I think would pull the bike together. Your bike looks new and it looks like you have someone's borrowed wheels. I'd consider powder coating them if at all possible. The wheels take a beating and paint won't stand up to it as well. Very nice paint job. Are you considering putting any of the graphics back on ?

I like Red, White and Blue as much as the next guy but I think you are right in changing the wheel color. I would go with powder coating myself. Paint will not hold up well over a few years. There is a vender in the sponsor section of the forum that does powder coating. He says that he preps and powder coats for $90/wheel. Someone in the forum asked about a chrome powder coat and he said it comes out more like a silver, similar to your stripes. I think the silver would give it a fresh look. I would get in tough with him. He is in north NJ.

thanx for the input guy. after tossing and turning last night, i agree that the red has to go. just what color to do...... DAMN these hard choices. as to PETERK's question(s). yes i have all the correct "tools" to paint. I work at a bodyshop, so im fortunate enough to be able to use them. Also as to your ? regarding the rear turns. i completely got rid of those nasty lookin stock turns. i took the wires from the turns and "spiced" (cut & connected) them to the small rear brake bulbs. so the are integrated into my brake light. i posted a thread about it a while back and i will see if i can find it for you. again, THANX FOR ALL THE FEEDBACK GUYS!!

well i couldn't find the link, but its quite simple to imagine. just block out the turns and thats what you are left with.
