Get yourself an Optimate, best investmant I ever made, battery always charged plus it keeps it conditioned so batteries last longer, especially if you are a fair weather rider like me lol!!!

I'd do that, but the bike is stored outside under cover. I'll have to upgrade to an Oxford Stormex cover, and either run weatherproof cable through the cat flap, or rig up one of those solar-powered battery chargers.

Hi Raginmund,
Good bike you've acquired. Looks good even without the photoshopped flange although that's a tasty enhancement.
If you're unsure about your battery, do yourself a favour and get a new one. 35 sovs get's you peace of mind. These bikes need a good jolt to get them fired up. It's a common story and an easy fix.
Check alternator output and all that but if you've just bought her and don't know how old the lead is, do yourself a big favour.

I'll try to get up to one of the Fylde meets again this year but it's a long way for me.

Take care and welcome to the fold.

Thanks H.

Got the battery out; nice to see the Honda tool-kit still under the seat, and the bolts/washers were well greased.

The battery looks in good nick, but no way afaik to tell how old it is.

The batt charger said 75% charge, but one of the wells/pipes/tubes/silos was out of water, so I refilled with distilled and I'll leave it on overnight.

I'm not clever enough to know if one tube losing water is significant..
