New owner 1989 CBR1000F. Looks like my Alternator Damper is shot. :(

Hi. My name is Tony from Australia and I am a new to CBR1000F owner. I have wanted this bike since 1995 when I bought my first big bike but bought a GPZ900R instead because it was in my price range and the CBR was not.
I have had the bike for nearly seven weeks and I cannot believe how much work it has needed. Previous owner was a 'mechanic' and his input of half fixing things was impressive. Cam timing was out by a tooth for example amongst some other impressive bad work. I'm nearly on top of it all however I have found that the bike has gone from not wanting to start when hot to not wanting to start- it turns over slowly as seen in Stus video.
I am aware of his write up that many people have used as a reference for alternator damper replacement BUT the site that it was available on is no more. Is there anywhere else it is available? Been trawling the web for days and have found nothing. Thanks! :)

Thanks for the welcome and link CaBaRet! Wonder what happened to Stu? I guess he moved onto more modern bikes? Seems like the CBR isn't popular anymore, judging by the dates of the posts. I've seen Stus youtube videos and left a message there. A step by step with pictures would be really helpful. Not used to working on Hondas. Much more familiar with Kawasakis. 😊

Think its multi-media that's killing the forums off, but can tell you the CBR's are as popular as ever, glad you joined us , if only to keep these forums going, there are loads of guy's on here who know the CBR1000 better than I do , they just dont visit as often as they used to:icon_sad:

They are VERY nice to ride. Happy with mine despite the issues. 😊

They are very popular, you can see that by the size of the section for the CBR1000, and there are a lot of Aussies in that section:icon_lol:

Good to know. Be keen to meet some other owners. :)
