Default New to me 96 CBR1000f

I got this 96 and its generally nice. I need to jet it for my altitude which is 5200-7000 ft. It came from sea level so sometimes refuses to start, has to run with the choke on, and stalls if it gets below 1000rpm. Should I start at two pilots and mains leaner? What are you guys living at a mike high using for pilots mains and needle positions?

Hey there. Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new to you bike.
If you are at altitude you will need adjust your carbs. I suggest downloading the owner's manual for your model. That will give you the info you need.
Also I would recommend a very thorough carb cleaning and syncing. That might help as much as anything.

While we wait for someone with more intelligence to show up, I will say you do not need a fuel pump, the MK3 did not come with one and people that have had trouble with the MK1 fuel pump usually just ditch it, as Honda did.
Your 96 is a MK3 so no pump.

Yes, no pump, just vacuum valve - And for your future hassle free enjoyment buy a petcock rebuild kit. It's around 18 bucks - you will need it.

Stock jetting should work. Go 2 1/2 turns on the pilots.
It sounds like the sync is out a bit. Your idle should be set to 1,200rpm.
