New to the Forum, just got a 90 1000f
Hello guy's,
Just got a 90 1000fthat runs like a top!! It is in great shape but the fairings are shot. Long story short I am turning this into astreetfighter. I know a fair amount about bikes and own 3.
Can anyone direct me to some places for the following parts.....
1. Frame Sliders (do they make tham for this bike?)[:@]
2. Bar raiser (replace the top tripple)
3. A good digital speedo and indicator lights (i found a Trailtech Vapor)
4. And then eventually a tail to swap outfor the streetfighter look
All I have to say is this bike is a blast.....!!!!!!!!

1 Frame sliders aren't necessary - there are crashbars built in under the small panels on your main fairing.........maybe chrome them, or something ?
2 Many bar raisers available - see e-Bay or just Google bar risers.
3 Vapor is a nice unit - one of the guys did a special and used one - very ice !
4 F4i tailpiece was used by another Forum member recently. Nice mod. Check last few pages of posts.

Shadow, are you sure about your statement #2. When I got my 95 five years ago, the first thing I looked into was a way to raise my bars. I found the options severly limited. What I found for the 1000f, as I recall, were helibars (expensive), gen mar risers (useless) and two sets of adjustable bars, the first set which were very expensive and I forget who made them, and a second set of Telefix bars of which I found a used set on ebay for fairly cheap($100 or so) and which I installed on my bike and work great. As for replacing the top clamp and installing standard non-clip-on bars, I kindof think that there is nothing made for the CBR like that. 1000fwilson, why do you want to replace the top triple anyway?

Well Pacojoseph,
I was just thinking this would be the way to mount a different bar maybe a higher one. Like this(see Pic)

Shadow1, thank you for the info. I will get the Vapor unit.I really like the f4i tail conversion look, now just to find a fair price.
Thank you both for the info. I will let you know what I do and post pics.

I've never tried to raise the bars on my bike, but I read somewhere that VFR750 or VFR800 bars will fit, and lift the arms a good bit. There's a post about it somewhere on the Forum.(I think)
I agree - why change the top triple ? I think you'd be making a lot of work for yourself........
These are from a VFR750 $20 each on e-Bay uk at the moment.

Maybe something like what Tony Dilworth did :

Wilson, from what I read on your link, with those risers you keep your stock top clamp and drill holes in it to mount the risers. While the price of the risers seems pretty reasonable, keep in mind that you'll have to also buy a standard handle bar to mount on the risers and also, from the look of the risers, you might have to swap out your stock brake, clutch and/or throttle cables. Attached is an old pic of my Telefix Profli bars, raised about as high as they'll go without swapping out any control lines. Sorry, I was obviously working on my bike when I took the pic, hence some of my bodywork was off the bike at the time.
