Default Naughty bike - Gear lever issues

Hi all,

I had an issue on the way home on the SC24, rode the whole way in 1st and 2nd as the gear lever refuses to centre thereby not allowing up shifting. I loosened the main bolt that holds the lever on a half turn and the gearshift is now perfect, can't leave it like that though since the lever will eventually fall off. The two joints are a little dry, but that can't be the whole problem. Is the back of the lever (where the bolt goes through) a bush or a bearing? If its a bearing I'm in trouble because it won't turn at all. Anyone had this happen to them?

Not answering your question directly BUT....

I've had similar symptoms and the problem has been road crud in the bush under the bolt as in the picture below.

Maybe try this first.....

I can see where crud would bind things up.

Question Gear shift lever bolt size?

Anyone know what size/length bolt Honda uses for the gear shift lever (#12 in the diagram)? Mine loosened up and came off on a long highway ride yesterday. Riding home stuck in 6th wasn't fun, especially on the back roads following a minivan going 10 mph under the speed limit... and 2 up on top of that. We made it though - this engine has surprising low-end grunt!

I remember modding all mine a while back with a longer shoulder bolt and a small
profile locknut to prevent exactly that problem of it loosening and falling out.

Must try and track down that thread , post and info
