My project CBR 1000FH.
Hello fellow CBR 1000F owners.
As you are probably aware, you own one of the nicest, smoothest most capable sports tourers out there.
Shhhh, Don't mention the camchain issue, be quite [X(].
Well this is my second CBR 1000FH, owned the first one for 13 yrs & some 132,000klm, it had 28,000 on it when I bought it. This one is to be used on the Dragstrip, to save me caining my daily ride, a ZRX 1200R Kwaka. I sold the original due to high mileage & inability to control right wrist, thus severly & constantly damaging my licence & wallet. Thought buying a naked bike might help slow me down. It has, sort of.............
I paid $150 for the beasty from my boss last weekend. It's very rough, but runs smooth blows no smoke & I have ridden it up the street & back.
Would you beleive it......... the engine has a chain rattle[sm=boohoo.gif]. Well having owned one before I won' t bore you with the questions, been down that road a few times with mine & others CBR 1000F series. I was well aware of the rattle prior, thus the price. Bike only has 71,000klm's on it, so still should be plenty of life left in it 1/4 of a mile @ a time.
Plastics however are all sad, guess I will need to learn plastic welding skills, never been down that road before. Some of the panels may well be better of binned but hey, this is a budget Dragbike. Glad I don't need a headlight, they where like $390 in 1998 when I looked @ replacing one on the previous one. Previous owner ran into a stationary 4wd Twincab @ around 10 Kp/h, thus lots of panel work, but no serious damage.
What I will need eventually is a FAT BUTT. Skinny may be acceptable in some circumstances, but when it comes to the dragstrip, U can't beat a Fat Ars*end.
Would appreciate any advice on Plastic welding kits & technique,& will do a search on the forum as I get to it.
Will post some pics of my first one once I scan them to the computer. It was the far nicer Pearl White & Red variety [8D].

RE: My project CBR 1000FH.
Welcome. It's amazing how much she will look just with a wash. As for repairs...you have learned many before but there are always new skills to learn & usually they are easier than first expected. There are posts in the forum about plastic welding etc & plenty of people to help with finding parts & giving advice. Best of luck with the old girl.

If you mean the tire in the above pics ...narr those are just dust marks from the concrete I think..
Chicken strips are actually a little piece or un worn rubber on the out side of the wear area of tires ...it usually looks like a clean narrow strip even after a ride ..
