Huh? From my experience changing my oil the oil never comes out the same color that it went in.

You probably should change your oil more often than every 120,000Kms...

But seriously, what do you mean exactly? Oil discoloration is normal, as I'm sure you already know (contamination, burn, etc,)..... and some brands come out darker than others. I've noticed there is quite a difference between Amsoil, Rotella, Valvoline, etc.
Have you changed brands?

In my KLR, the oil seems like it's always black... lol..

if your oil is turning darker, then that means that its working, doing what its supposed to be doing... do regular oil changes and ur good, no need to worry or rebuild engine

Well....my oil has always been golden...what went in stayed the same{as apposed to my 1100F Katana, who's oil always turned black}...Gets serviced every 6000k,but now I noticed its darker than before, still runs perfectly though...I use the same oil I always use,
Mabye Im just being paranoid..wonder how many miles is left in her..feels like a least another 100.000kms....
Hope so..
Cheers..

Relax Craig - the bike's finally run in !
The darkening is suspended particles - change it every 5000 or so and it'll run forever....
Shalom !

Maybe you've just been running her harder lately?

I wouldn't take the spanners to it just for that mate. Way too much cash involved! I'd only be worried if it started burning oil on me or suddenly started making nasty noises. I agree with the rest of the guys.. 5k oil changes and a filter every 10k and you should be right. Does it sound the same, any drop in power or burning more oil?

If your oil is still golden and translucent when you change it, you're changing it too soon.Don't sweat it.

happy the S word has not come up yet .........but +6 on it doing its job. When I first
got my bike over here it had "Royal Purple" oil in it which promptly went blacker than
tar and it was a little worriesome to say the least.

Try diesel oil
