I am looking into rebuilding it myself, or finding someone who actually knows what their doing. I have a lot of experience with older chevy's but this is my first major bike project. I was excited to be cruising by the summer but I would love to tear her down to the frame and do everything right and essentially have a new bike. I have to look into rebuild prices. I don’t think its the head gasket due to the force the coolant came out at. It sure looked like a straight gravity feed from the radiator. Any advice on the rebuild is appreciated. Thanks for the new avatar! Boy that is one ugly bike hahahaha. Thanks again for all the advice. I am located in New Jersey.

So i started stripping the bike today. In the manual I noticed a few differences depending on if the bike was a california bike. As i understand it the CA bikes had less horsepower. The book talks about a canister that needs to be removed on the CA bikes. Heres a picture of my bike. Is this the canister? is my bike the lower hp CA bike? Thanks Pat

What are those 4 salami's doing hanging from your engine..............
It may be a Cali Model but it's easy to get back all the horsepower that has been stolen. There are rubber restrictors in the inlets on the carbs - if they are still there, grind them off or buy a set of "normal" ones, and you're good to go, with full power
The rest is basically just plumbing..................

I've never heard of a restricted bike in the states.
I know the Cali bikes have a PAIR system that is simply an emissions thing that injects clean air into the exhaust. There are other various canisters and filters, etc. that are mostly designed to catch VOC's from fuel, blah blah blah.
My bike was a stock Cali model and had no restriction.
Easy way to tell if it's a Cali model is that it will have 4 tubes coming off the head on each cylinder where the air is injected into the exhaust. If you don't have them, it's not a Cali bike.
Plus, if you don't have all the bullchit in the picture below, you don't have a Cali model. This is a pic of my bike before I ripped all this chit out and tuned it.

Thanks for the reply. I wish my motor was that clean!!! I do have some nice salami's though. hahaha. Heres a pic of my filthy motor. Loks like theres a lot goin on there. I looked at the header and there was something directly above it but no tubes going into the header itself. Heres the pic. Again thanks for the help.
