Default My CBR is puking

Hi Guy`s,
I have a slight problem that is wrecking My head.
My 96 CBRF has started to throw out coolant from the overflow pipe after a run, it doesn`t do it every time, it doesn`t overheat, it gets to temp then the fan cuts in when caught in traffic.
Has anyone got any ideas??? its gotta be somethin simple that i`ve overlooked but i just can``t get a grip on it, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Regards Mike

If you fan is working it is good, but make sure your thermostat is working properly. Then check in your overflow thank, the overflow tupe should not go to the bottom of the thank because the system will think the tank is full, if this is the case, cut it down to 3\4 of it lenght or take it out completly. also make sure that you have no air leaks in your cooling system. If this is the cse the collant will boil at a lower temp then usual.

I had this problem and it turned out to be a too-long overflow tube. I cut it off so it reached to the 'MAXIMUM' level on the overflow tank. This solved my problem.

If that doesn't help, then yeah you might need to get a new thermostat.

Cheers - boingk

Suggest that maybe your "radiator" cap is not maintaining sufficient pressure in the cooling system.Any good workshop car or bike should have a cap tester and will be able to confirm if this is the case.

+1 for the radiator cap, always test the easier bits first

Thanks Guy`s
I thought it may be the cap, so i changed it for one that I have from a scrapped cbrf, still didn`t sort it, I`ll check into the other stuff over the weekend, I have another thermostat, if the overflow pipe ain`t the problem i`ll check the stat.
will let ya know how it goes

DragonCBR's suggestion above is the one I'd be paying attention to ....as I had mine
doing it at one point ....no more thanks to Carl !

My overflow has always been bone dry. It doesn't overheat, tho. I keep meaning to put just a little bit in there so it at least looks wet. lol..

But yeah, I'd definitely start with the overflow tube length. I've heard of that problem so many times, just never seen it.
