Much Difference (engine wise) between the CB1000 and the CBR?
My mate has his eye on a 1996 CB1000, red and white in immac condition with a Lazer pipe and flyscreen, only has 30k on the clock and the owner wants $7000.
He's ridden my bike a few times and likes the nice even power spread, but he's yet to ride the CB (unregistered atm). He's just wondering what the differences are. Apparntly its the same engine with more low down oomph and a 5 speed box (?). I do like the CB, has a ultra comfy riding position and more legroom than the CBR. He's telling me its just a naked CBR1000 with some minor changes, is he way off the mark? |

Is that $7000 US dollars ? I don't know much about the CB1000, but that price seems way high for a bike of that year ? Your profile doesn't show where you're located so it's hard to tell what currency you're talking about.

Fixed:)
Bikes are a ripoff in Australia. $40,000+ for a Goldwing, $19,000 for a R1. (Australian dollar is on par with the US in what it buys, $14.50 for a 6 pack) |

$1 AU = $0.7873 US
Soo..... $7000 AU = $5511.1 US MDFF |

Is 1996 CB1000 naked one? Even 5500 USD is way too high... It depends on how much invensment on it..

According to bikez.com, CB1000 = 71.5kw, CBR1000F = 98.5kw
There are two 95' models CB1000 on bikepoint.com, $5900 & $6990 bikesales.com values this bike at $5450 - $6500 For the money your mate wants to spend, you could buy a blackbird |

RE: Much Difference (engine wise) between the CB1000 and the CBR?
He'd be better off buying a 92 model CBR1000f (or 93 if he wants lbs) for around $3500 - $4000 and giving it a rebuild with a big bore kit. |

ORIGINAL: mdfirefighter $1 AU = $0.7873 US Soo..... $7000 AU = $5511.1 US MDFF Yeah our $ is worthless but in retrospect it buys the same on the same market (not as an exchange). Joe Averege only earns about $600 a week here.
