Which model tensioner ?
Guys,
I am considering having the cam chain tensioner done in my 89. Which year though is the best tensioner to get. I know they were re designed in later years to assist with the rattling they all seem to have. Will the later ones fit my 89 ? Im going to get one from the states as they are just far to expensive buyin em here. With the money I'll save right there I can pay someone to do it lol which I will be anyway....Thanks.

I'm not that mechanically able Pete...lol. I got a price today of $295 here in oz for the tensioner off one shop. I rang a mate in a nearby bike shop and he said the same thing. He is going to do it for me for $165 though and still make money. Honda are robbing dogs when it comes to parts. They are $125 in the states plus postage so if I do it I will just get it here. That's if I do it though. The noise certainly hasn't got any worse since I've had it so might hang off and see what happens. 'Im just gonna give it to the mechanic and say......" fix it "....please.....lol.
Do you think Im wasting money in getting it done or should I do it ? Thanks mate.

My camchain ratlles like Steve-o's false teeth on a tin roof.
Bike still goes like a train.
Live with the noise, I'd say.
Maybe a carb sinc - would really help.
If you're not mechanically inclined, moving cams around and resetting the timing etc may be a bit much without help. I'd go and watch your mechanic mate do it, this time and maybe next time have a go. No shame in that - better than buggering your engine up
