Metzeler M3 or Pilot Power/Road
It's Time. I was going put two new Michelin Pilot Power/Road, but now I've be told that the new Metzeler Sportec M3 are good and comparable.
I typically don't ride in the wet, if it does rain, I ease right off, and I'm want to get good tire life, no track work

I would give you a review of the Pilot Road I just got for my rear but seeing as my bike is in peices at the moment it will be a while. I'm always a fan of Michelin because they mold their tires in one peice. I also got a really good price on it (130 US shipped) so we will see.

The M3 or the Powers aren't going to give you a long tire life on our heavy bikes. The Z6 in comparisons are just a tick slower on the track and offer much longer mileage.
I've had the Roads, and I wasn't impressed. Not a bad tire, just not a great tire. Nothing that bad about them, just not a real inspiring hunk of rubber. And they are more expensive.

The Metzeler site show that the M3 last long than the Z6 (5 elephants to 4 elephants, Page 2; http://www.metzelermoto.com/media/07...eet_e_2006.pdf )
Maybe M3 is the way to go?

For my 2 cents worth I have just changed from a Pilot Power to a Bridegstone BT020 180/55ZR17 its a harder tyre appearently better for my longer trips and also has a reasonable cornering ability I also changed the chain as it was a little old and we have improved the fuel economy by 40 to 50 Kls per tank. Last weekend two up approx 180 to 190 Kgs on the bike we did a 242 kls and used 12.75 litres of fuel with an average speed of 120 Ks per hour

I've not tried the M3s but had M1s on my last bike and they wore out really quickly. I never got more than 3500 from a rear before it was badly squared off. I believe the M3s are an evolution of the M1. I have Z6s on the CBR now and I'm up to 5300 on them with plenty of life left and the rear is only just starting to square off (riding the same roads as I always ride).

Seems almost like a print error to me, that a track oriented tyre gives better milegae than a touring tyre. BTW, I learned to love the Z6 on the Hurricane and feel the same with the on the Bird now. It would be nice to get feedback from the M3's if ou buy them, they are most certainly very good tyres and my only quiery about them is longlivety.

I have decided, I going for the Z6 due to my lesser aggregative riding behaviour and Longevity.
Thanks Guy’s, You’re put me on the right track.
Added: I have chosen the 120 front and 180 back (94')
