i know its an old post, but tire width and handling vs looks is a real issue. i had stock tires on my first 600 hurricane, then i bought another one with 160 back and 120 front and its so much "heavier" to ride.
i ride twisty roads every day to and from work and its getting to me. once i wear these out i will swap for stock.

on my 1000 hurricane i might want to go bigger as that will be my road trip bike (but having to buy swingarm + wheel is a turn off )

would like to hear updated opinions on brands - - must have been something going on in the 9 years past since thread was opened

I have a 1996 and a 180 tire will fit the rear wheel/swingarm/chain/etc just fine, but it will foul the stock chainguard. I had to shim it outward about 1/8" to clear the tire. A 190 is going to saw the chainguard in half unless it's shimmed WAY out, and it's going to come (very) close to fouling the swingarm and chain, if not rubbing outright.
