Since I recently rebuilt the petcock I have checked it religiously after I ride and there is no leaks there at all.
Also I seem to be getting a slight bit better fuel economy on this tank. I have about 50 miles on the trip reader and the needle is at 1/4 from full. I think maybe the sea foam is helping clean up what ever else was clogging it up.
I will keep you guys informed.
Also gonna be changing out the chain today.
Thanks for all the input.

While you're changing the chain, check that both wheels are turning freely. Binding breaks/bearings will also reduce your MPG.

Just a thought.

Might want to consider some new cogs (sprockets) to go with that new chain

and if so less teeth on the rear sprocket will improve mpg a bit but she'd
lose some grunt off the line

So just another update I am about 60 miles into this tank of fuel and the needle sits at just under half a tank.
I am curious if any of you guys know what the mileage is on your bikes at half tank reading.

On my 90 the gauge is azz - totally way off - at half way there still 3 1/2 in mine

I have to go by amount pumped against miles ridden with it - the gauge is that bad

My 1993 is accurate 1/2 tank is about 2 1/2 gals

When I hit the reserve line and refilled, it took a lil over 3 gallons. So I'm pretty sure mine is off as well.
Thanks for the input Sprock

Blackdog, I did 130 miles yesterday and averaged 45 mpg. Checked it by 130 mi off the odometer and the pump reading. I have no clue what the fuel gauge was reading.

What year bike do you have and do you know your gearing.

My tach needle matches my speedometer needle when in 5th gear with stock gearing.

I have a 91 and the gearing is all stock on it. I rarely hit 100 mph. I mainly shift at about 5k depending on the situation.
When at idle I can see the tach needle bouncing instead of holding steady. Any ideas why this is?

So I just got back from a 60 mile run. The fuel needle hit reserve at the 100 mile mark on the trip OD. I kept it around 5k rpms for most of the ride, till I hit the twisties. Man I love this bike.
I popped the tank afterwards to check for any leaks and found none. I did how ever notice that the rubber boots to the air box are separated in parts. Will this cause the unstable idling? I can silicone them up "wich it appears someone did before" and see if it runs any better.
I also pulled the air filter just to double check again. There is a little bit of dust and dirt on the inside of it but not much at all.
While I was doing that I notice that at some point there was oil leaking in the air box from the top portion of the box and down to the bottom of it. There is absolutely no oil on the air filter though.
Any ideas?
Thanks
