Looking for parts
 

Hey guys!, i am new here but have had my 1990 CBR1000F for over 2 years now. Recently i have been looking for parts since i was side slipped by a car. Long store short i have been looking for the aluminum oil cover on the shift side of the motor and also the coolant barb on the same side since it got crushed. Since this is my only transportation i have been driving it with no antifreeze and have been adding oil to it. If some one can help me find these parts that would be great. Always looking on ebay. Thanks

Seriously?? I understand this is your only mean of transportation, but using public services will cost you less than what you're going to spend to fix that engine, running without coolant!
Don't mean to be harsh, but my advice, don't use it like that till you fix it.

yeah i feel bad riding it but i figure since it is cold out side and i just ride it to work and school which is close i dont think i even heat up the engine. The temp usually stays in the middle and never over heats. The only thing i am worried about if it will dry out of the seals but i always put hot water in it in the morning to warm it up. Thanks

The temperature reading isn't correct. The reading is taken at the thermostat housing and because there is no fluid will not be the same as the internal engine temperature. You can do SEVERE damage to the valves and cylinders running an non air cooled engine without coolant. IMHo If you keep riding it this way you'll be looking for a lot more parts very soon.

I can only echo what the guys are saying -
1 The temp you are seeing isn't accurate, and your bike's overheating before you even leave the house.
2 At least try to run coolant, even if it leaks, some is def better than none.
What the hell's a coolant barb ? Is it the pipe unit shown in the attached drawing ?

I see a wrecked engine and tears in the near future..........

Sounds like he's running tap water only or amI missing something?

I guess a quick fix would be to put a plaster of "Crazy Glue" in paste, at least on the areas where the leaking is more severe, and definitely I woukd suggest to have at least a 1/2 gallon jug in the back pack with coolant mix so you can add in your way back to your house.

No, IMO, from what I gather he's running a DRY cooling system !!!!!

Guaranteed to ruin the engine in short order.
Still hasn't told me what a cooling barb is - never heard of it.......?
Does anyone know ?
Crazy glue, JBweld, even glass fibre to hold the oil in, but with no water.......gawd.
