Default Local Bike shop closing

My local bike shop is shutting down and is selling all parts and accessories at 1/2 price, I picked up some RJays leather gloves for $35 and a rear sprocket for $50(going back to standard 42 teeth), he sold all the oil filters for $10 each so there were none left for me. What else do you think I should stock up on? Too much to choose from...If you give me a suggestion could you give me a rough idea on retail so I can see if I am getting a bargain, he says he has quite a few bits to suit the CBR as he used to own one and has built up quite a lot of stock over the years.

Why not ask him for a list and we can give you some prices, or you can compare with MrCycles Honda Kawasaki Polaris Suzuki Yamaha Motorcycles ATVS Scooters Utility Vehicles
and see what's worthwhile.

I tried for the pants put he sold all leather gear to another bike shop in one hit for $32000! I am looking at the AlpineStar Bat touring pants about $350-$400. I did not like any helmets I tried on he has DJR (I think) fibreglass composit were $650 now $325! I just did not like the fit.

Last year i bought a bell vortex as a replacement for my Shark that was damaged in my low side, and i am quite impressed by it, confy does get caught much in the wind and way more quality than what I paid for it.

When Circuit City was closing here people were going nuts buying up stuff. They stood in line after grabbing stuff like it was the end of the world. I think the store marked everything up 30% and then advertised 20% off on all items. Even when they went to 50% off I still could get an item much less by shopping around. People are stupid at times.

I think small items or special items that won't move are going to be the best deals.

it's the GREED mark up they have,,,
used to be 10% on things in shops,,, now it's 400%

as you say, the we silly things.

not bike related,
i used to buy AA and AAA batteries in the wholesalers for R/C car racing,,,
about 60p for 4 in a pack.. exact same sold on the shop's for £2.49

wasn't just the bankers anr house sales ruined the economy,,,,
we all had a hand in it.

Bike shops in Australia are closing down at the rate of one per week so guys in the trade have been telling me. Here in Australia mark up is huge on everything especially automotive stuff. An example being my boss priced four tyres for his 4WD yesterday ( Toyota Kluger ). He priced them through two tyre outlets and ended up saving $140 PER TYRE such was the difference in price between the two shops. We are ripped off here something terrible. I only buy tyres, oil etc in the shops as I have no choice, although my local shop does look after me on price. I went to an auction about 2 years ago now for a shop that had closed locally and bought heaps of oil, helmet cleaner, chain lube etc. Paying 8 dollars a litre instead of $20 for Castrol GPS Power 1 is certainly a bonus. I still have about a dozen bottles. Stock up on as much as u can afford mate. It certainly pays for itself in the long run. Cheers.
