RE: Life Expectancy of CBR
Mine has 56 k on the engine, and it's running nicely, besides a very iritating ratteling sound I can't get rid of.
Btw Was57. Have you had any problems after adjusting your balancer? I have found out that my ratteling sound dosn't come from the top ef the engine where the cc crosses the cams, but from the bottom of the engine. Just wondered if it could be the balancers adjusted to tight, or maybe the clutch... noice coming from that area, now even at iddle.

Man, all this talk of cam chains, alternator chains, oil pump chains, etc kind of makes me want to look for a VFR as a next bike. I guess that all those gears helps those things last so long.
Anyone know if the superhawk 1000 has gear driven cams? or are they chain as well?
I got my bike cheap enough that I'll probally just run it till it don't run no more. I may replace the tensioner but I don't think that it's worth replacing the cam chain on a $1450 bike. Besided it only has 29,000 miles on it and I plan on using it mosly cruising the highway so it should last a while more without any major work.

Mine is coming up to 100,000k's.
I've had it for the last 60k's and its had the living hell thrashed out of it on weekends and a lot of stop start riding on weekdays and its still going fine.
Only uses a lot of oil when I flog it. But it has a leaky gasket so its hard to say how much oil its using.
The only thing I am stressed about is it will need the cams refaced in about 50k's.
