Default LED Light replacements - what's the go?

hey there folks,

only reasonably new to this place but just after some input!

I am thinking of replacing the indicators, and stops with LED filament globes, supposedly brighter than the norm, which is good for approaching Volvos, and the ones i am looking at are 11-36 elements per globe so they will probably outlive the life of the bike

Has anyone else done this, or heard good and bad stories about it?

(below is the 'new to me' baby)

Ain't too sure about your LED'S m8 - but nice CBR - same colours as mine!
What cans are you running there?

Strange thing thou...every other CBR1000F i see in the red, white & purple colours
has a white grabrail - yet mines black......and looks like it's still the factory paint.

everything about this beast is standard at present.

I am looking at led replacements, powder coating the rack (white of course) and doing a few more decorative clean ups on it.

I am considering some of things i have seen here too (regulator and the like). Currently nothing wrong with it, but seems like a common bug in these babies from what i read here n there (the heat especially)

Oh yeah, and soon it will have a full alarm system (remote start/stop/etc/etc/blah/blah).

and you know the tiny covers in the middle of the lower fairing, tiny scratches on one of them, so i am thinking of putting in a tiny led panel indicator there (coz Volvos cant see the indicators from the side of the bike when they are wearing their stackhats) :P hehehehe

Cheers

OOPS: minor correction (its 4am and i have had less than 1hr sleep). Not sure about the branding, to busy enjoying the sound and the ride to notice.
(will take a peek in about two hours when i take her for a spin again).

hehehe... that was a long two hours wasnt it
the pipes are staintune .............

and this is the other side of life, forgive the smoke but that tends to happen when the idiot-owner gets excited about photographing his baby and forgets to kill the choke

I tried the LED in the taillights a couple of years ago. I personally didn't like them. Mind you, I still have the vinyl tape over the tallight (previous owner) that makes it look like 2 individual lights about 2 inches circular, so a lot of the scatter from the lens is lost. I also tried the LED turn signals on the rear, with a clear lens and amber LEDs and again I wasn't impressed as they could only be seen at a certain angle. That, and they didn't have the proper resistance so the flasher unit always thought the rear bulbs were burnt and would flash fast.

I am running LED tower bulbs with clear lenses in my rear indicators - very bright and can be seen from any angle. I slowed them down with a plug and play electronic flasher unit from Halfords !

My fronts are disables as I run LED switchables (white and orange) in my blackbird mirrors.

The rear light is a different kettle of fish ! You need really bright white LED's to give you a good bright light as the lens is thick red. The inside of the rear light is not reflective (just matt silver) so no matter how u do it, you end up with 2 round lights if u use LED's. Another solution may be to spary the inside of the light with chrome paint to give you a good reflective pattern.

Hope this helps.

Those mirrors look great, plus i have read here the oringial indicator wells can then be opened up as ventilators.

I am postponing the led light idea for about a month (something to do with wedding costs)

But i think i might look at converting the mirrors after I get back ...... like the look and the current indicators really seem to sit where no one except people directly in front of you can see 'em (would be good to have drivers at sides knowing that you are turning sometimes)

The pipes on this are staintune..........

Thinking of gettng the rack powder coated white coz it looks so out of place (black, on a white bike).

And the other good thing about being on bike again... I am one of the very few staff at work who can use the secure carpark anytime i like

hmmm..... hahahha....

I dont know whether i should answer seriously or act offended ???? [:'(]

It sounds like a joke comment saying my bike is a grand-dad bike in which case i would say "On Ya Bike mate!".

But if it is a serious question .... they are what came with the bike, but i would hope to set them up differently if changing mirrors over later down the track.

Hey Choppa, interesting name, not Aussie by any chance? I'm in NSW, where are you? I've got an 87 CBR, see pic (i hope) just finished fitting a wider rear wheel. I also want to do something with tail light and blinkers, not sure what as yet. Let me know how you go with the LED's. pete...
