Default Late (90+) to early (87-89) tank swap?

I have a 1989 CBR1000F that needs a new tank. (Unfortunately, it's too far gone for a simple sealing.) I've seen a few tanks around on Ebay and the like, but most are of the later 1990-1994 variety. I'm aware that the fuel petcock is different and vacuum-driven, but wasn't aware if the mounting tabs would line up or not.

Does anyone know if they match up or not?

Thanks!

Ugh. I suck. This should probably be in the Alternative Parts sub-forum. Sorry. :/

I think the 89-91 are all the same, but the 87/88 and the 93+ won't fit quite right with the 89 fairing. I'm not 100% on that, tho...

If they were able to have been swapped out, I would have done it. I really like the newer ones gas caps. Ride safe
