Default Jets needed

Hello all,
Just a simple question, does anyone know what size carb jets I will need to fit as I am going to fitK&N type filters and doing away with the standard airbox, The bike is a 1990 1000f with standard exhausts.

Leave the jets as they are - the bike comes overjetted as standard.
Will be fine.

Some are of the oppinion that removing the stock airbox on the 1kf is a mistake. Going to the individual filters is most beneficial on bikes with tiny airboxes or race engines that are highly modified.

The reason behind going to K&N's is the last owner has 'masticed' the intake rubbers into the airbox, and the carbs need stripping/cleaning outand then balancing, I need the bike for work and have been told there is a long wait from honda for new rubbers

Look on e-Bay for rubbers, or remove yours, clean and refit.Check www.Bikebandit.com for spares.
Place in hot water to make them pliable.

If you remove the air box to fit pods you might lose rideabilaty (smoothness) from the low rpm but gane top end HP.Take off torque att low rpm will suffer.

I've done K&N pods on 2 of my other "Naked" bikes (ZRX1100 and ZR750 "Zephyr"). The main jet increase is dramatic. Mains went up from 95's to 130's.

I would not recommend pods on the CBR1000F because of the enclosed bodywork. You would be sending superheated air into the engine. Also your needle profile would be all wrong.

If this CBR is sans bodywork, it's worth a try.

+1 vl5150 regarding the hot air going into the pod style filters. The factory intakes are ducted to the sides of the bike and take in much cooler air.
