idled up slightly. Choke cable?

i noticed today on my ride in to work my bike started idling up by about 500 rpm. Havent had a chance to look, but could the choke cable be sticking a little? I have never had to adjust the idle on this bike in over a year, so something else is likely to be the culprit I think. Are the choke cables known to stick over time? Thoughts?

Does it hold steady at 500rpm above normal , have you tried pushing/twisting the throttle back down(just to eliminate sticking throttle)? Otherwise I would suspect the choke and take a look at that:icon_shrug:

Just a thought , have you done any work on the bike recently?

I haven't had any sticking cable problems, but it sounds like a logical place to start.

If you've had the tank up you may have caught the cable underneath - has happened to me.....................
Otherwise just spray some Q20 on the cable mechanisms etc.
Could also be a stuck butterfly - it happens in the best of families Ronnie :)

Thanks guys!
I tried playing with the throttle and moving the choke cable back and forth. When I first take it off choke in the mornings it goes to 1100, where I have it set. But as I ride and the motor gets warmer, it idles up to about 1500 which is a little too high for me.

Until I pull the tank up and look, I went ahead and idled it down a little.

Gonna have to break down and do the valve adjustment one day and Im really intimidated to tackle that task.

Maybe I can lift the tank after work today and take a look. I have had this bike about a year and 4 months and it sure has been a trouble free ride!!..... with the exception of the nightmare working on the linked brakes,

If you decide to do it, don't worry it's not bad at all. No shims, no bullchit, just adjusters. All you need is a 10mm deepwell with the sides ground down for gripping, and some allen wrenches (hex keys), feeler gauges, and a torque wrench. Or, of course, you can buy the special honda tool instead of using the ground down deepwell method... :)
Easy job, really.
Just don't over-torque the valve cover bolts or they will break..... Although a fairing bolt and rubber washer will work as a quick replacement. (I really need to replace that bolt.. ;))
