Hurricane Oz
Greetings to all..now that I am a free man,I am planning on going down under for a few months.
My plan is arrive in Sydney and purchase a bike{Would love to find a Cane}and drive to Melbourne to visit some family, basicly drive around Oz,mabye head to New Zealand, dunno, enjoy my freedom...
So,Can anybody{Classic}send me some details on prices{later the model, the betta}insurance, petrol costs and some basic maintainence costs{Mabye tires, sprockets ect.....}since I have no idea what these cost in a Oz{here they are bloody expensive}....My budget is around 5-7000${oz dollars}for a bike....is that being realistic???...
Would appreciate any help..
Cheers....

You should be able to pick up a "Supersport" Tax free if your visiting....
Good price from a dealer will be around the $4-5 k mark.
Tires '' '' '' '' $450 a pair.
Chain/ Sprockets '' '' $490 a set.
Petrol is currently $1.25 per litre, average.
Bear in mind you are hitting Oz getting into the warmer months,so long distance touring will shred your tires.
Hope this helps.

Sounds like you are going to have a blast Craig...
Sixpack summed it up pretty much really..
If you can avoid bouncing off the locals and stay upright , you can get by here with just third party insurance ...(damage to other vehicles only)
Are you used to riding in 35deg 100+ F heat ? ...
I have seen a few 1000F Canes(Supper Sports) down to the $3500 AUD in NSW(Sydney)...but to get a later model one or one with no miles , you will be paying a premium ( 6000-7000)
If the weather turns nasty (40C+)110F you will destroy tires real quick on the open Hwy traveling at speed.. ...
It's better when the weather is like that, to just not ride till it cools off I recon ...
