how to remove carbs?
 

I've had help in determining that i have some carburetion issues, i believe in the pilot circuit.

I spent some time the other day trying to pull the carbs off. I loosened all the clamps butthey feel firmly planted. I can't see any brackets holdingthem on, but am I missig something?

oh...you have to pull the airbox? i didn't know that. Damn it looks like a pain to get at these.

Pull the airbox BACK - not OUT. This will give you an extra inch of space which is all you need.
Grab the carbs and wiggle them firmly up and down, to get them out of the carb rubbers- carb inlet rubbers stay on the bike so make sure you loosen the right clamps:D

Those carbs are in there tight. I always use a large screwdriver to carefully pry the carbs toward the rear of the bike. You have to get them started on the left and right side, then you can wiggle them up and down, and pull them by hand toward the rear. Just remember everything is aluminum or pot metal.

Getting them out is the easy bit. Getting them back in is harder. I find that if you lube the inside of the rubbers slightly & push them in as far as you can then place a piece of timber at the top of the carbs & gently tap the wood with a hammer each side till they're home works. This way you don't damage anything & they almost fall on. Some people even go to the extent of warming the rubbers but I find it's not necessary.

It was a pain cause the rubber was old and stiff but i got them out. So here's the problem I've been having:
-The bike ran fine before i parked it for a few days, when i came back it barely/won't idle. It runs really rough especially at low rpm's
-It smooths out a little bit at higher rpm's but is still definitely not right. Even the exhaust tone sounds really strange

So I'm thinking maybe a blockage in the slow circuit? I'm gonna try removing the jets and blowing them out. Any suggestions what else to try???

With the carbs upright on your workbench, stick a finger in the intake and lift up the plastic piston. It should lift with some resistance. Take your finger out and release it at the top. It should fall with a thunk. Do all four. If one or more stays at the top, falls slowly, or doesn't come all the way down, the top of the carb must be taken off, and the pistons and walls must be cleaned. If that's the problem, I'll tell you later how to fix it. If it was mine, I would clean them no matter what.

I've had that problem, and so have others on the forum.
If you'd given me the symptoms I would've told you what to do...........[X(]
Ride the bike for 150 K's.........it'll clear.
If not, pull it down, or run some carb cleaner or quikstart through it.

Careful with the compressed air - there are small rubber seals which could get damaged.
A little light oil on the inlet rubbers may help you to ease them back in.............
