85,000 kms is like warmup

Mine have done 60,000 miles or 96,000 kms had some problems, but nothing fatal

You may be expecting the infamous starter clutch or damper but all in all i would not worry too much

I saw a year ago with my mechanic another 1000F it was an 1988 model with...160,000kms!!! on the original unopened engine, neverthless to say that the bike was in mint condition, according with my mec he told me that the owner was the original one, an old fella that did all that on road only trips to Puerto Vallarta (like 4 hours away from my place) every weekend!! so I guess my bike is still on the breaking period

Hi all. I'm new here, but had to put my 2 cents in. I've got a 1991 CBR 1000F. I'm up to 89,000+ mi on mine and the motor is running strong! I have a small oil leak from the output shaft to the drive sprocket, but other than that the motor is perfect! Its time for for seals, brakes, and tires though

A few years ago I was doing some work out in Fresno, CA. I met someone with a '93 1000F. He had 129,000 miles on it. He had said that he wanted to replace it, but this one was running so good, that he couldn't justify it. It would start everytime. It was what convinced me I had made the right decision to get mine.

Good one mate.
See,the problem 20 years ago was there were so many models being released whether CBR,GSXR,FZR,GPZ/X all were labelled as potential Hand grenades......

Bet there arent too many of the other brands still on the road.............?

That’s so true but Honda always stood for reliability in anything that they made. As for the others, it was more of a “who’s the fastest, most powerful or flashy looking”. We used to have a ’91 Civic that we sold with 600 000kms, at it still had the original, un-machined, front brake rotors. Stories of how durable and reliable Hondas are legendary, so I personally am not surprised that they last for pretty much forever. The failure rate on Hondas is very low but $hit happens every now and then, otherwise I wouldn’t have mine today.
