HELP - Don't want to lose my Hurricane
Several months ago the hurricane was tipped over in a parking lot when a pickup truck backed into it. Broke the crankcase open, did some body damage.... the estimate exceeded the FMV and I was allowed to buy it back as a salvage title.
I got the crankcase welded up, got the lights working, but a star crack in the headlight is keeping it from passing brake lamp inspection
I have been searching for 3 months for a headlight replacement... no luck.
What can I do? Any ideas?
Are there other headlight assemblies that will work? I really need your guys' help
My son and I are set to ride to Laguna Seca for the world GP... I want to get it fixed

Keep an eye on ebay.
This one's for a 1996.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1996-...em310049637168&
Won't fit the older models, though. I think 1993 is the cutoff?
I think you can also get a new one (for like $200, though).

RE: HELP - Don't want to lose my Hurricane
Hi Jakes and welcome to the Forum ! - Another California model (now we are three).
There are no headlight assemblies on e-Bay - just checked. Nothing else will fit, I think.89-92 models only are the same.93-96 was different, as was 87/88
Maybe DAD would loan you one from his old bike (if it's still in one piece) PM him......
www.mrcycles.com has a new one for $282.36

RE: HELP - Don't want to lose my Hurricane
First off, why is a crack in your headlight assembly keeping you from passing brake lamp inspection? In any event, I don't necessarily see why you can't jury rig another headlight to fit into your fairing, either from a later model 1000f or maybe from a cbr600f2 or f3, which I think have similarly shaped headlights. If another headlight doesn't fit exactly and maybe would look a little wierd, you could always swap your current headlight back after passing inspection so long as the crack doesn't really affect anything. Maybe try asking for some headlight measurements on the 600f3 board to see if you can get an idea if one of those will fit in the available space. There may be more of those floating around on ebay for cheap.

If it is a HEADLIGHT crack rather than a TAIL LIGHT crack you could get it repaired.
Our CBR1000F headlights are still made of glass rather than the modern plastic units.
One of my friends took his cracked headlight to a windscreen fitters and had it repaired
using some sort of special resin that they cannow use to fill chips and small cracks in windscreens.
The repair is virtually invisible and has Department of Transport approval.
The cost for this repair was only £10 ( $20 USD )

Yeah, repair is a good idea.
I know here, they even sell these epoxy kits to do it yourself. They are something like $5-$10.
Not sure if I actually would try to do it myself, though, especially if it's only about $20 for a pro to do it right...
I was just looking at these kits the other day, and right beside themisone of those kits for clearing updiscolored plastic headlights. I wonder if that would work to clear up a windscreen?
The picture on the box is beuatiful!

Have you solved your dilema yet? If not, there is a headlight on the US ebay now as well. Here is a link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA...spagenameZWDVW.
If this link doesn't work, just go to www.ebay.com and search for item number 4618314096.
