Default help cbr runnin lean

ok i bought a 93 cbr 1000f about 4 months ago and it ran fin when i bought it. and i just got my lisence for it and it only runs on choke, but runs crappy. the bike only has 9k miles on it and i changed the gas out. is this a vacuum problem or do i need to clean the carbs. it will rev fine on choke but once you let go of the throttle it dies out. i mostly work on cars and what wondering about how long it would take an average person to clean the carbs.

Some other new members that have just purchased bikes have had similar trouble.

Other members and I have suggested running fuel injector cleaner in the fuel to clean up the crapped up carbs, from sitting. I have had luck doing that.

Haven't heard back from them yet.

The carbs need a good cleaning. Gas tank cleaner may clean the jets, but I think yours are too far gone. Plus, the only way to clean the piston slides, piston walls, air bleeds, and choke passage is to take the top off each carb. To me, carbs are like the inside of computers. They seem like magical devices until you take the cover off. Then you see how simple they are. You just can't be ham-fisted, as everything is brass, aluminum, plastic, or rubber. There are plenty of write-ups on how to take the carbs off, dis-assemble, clean, measure float level, assemble and sync the carbs.

I am one of the members that TimBuc helped. Things are definatly getting better. Still need some work. Bought the real carb. sync. tool. Still only runs with the choke on, didn't run at all before. Waiting on the fuel filter and molded fuel line. I think my problem now is that I tried to use a plain fuel line. A guy in line at two-wheel world suggested I put a loop in it. but I still think I am getting some restriction. I am riding it though. I know I know but I CANT HELP IT. I have rebuilt the clutch; the hydraulic. side, too. Pulled the carbs countless times. Done every thing to the carbs except actually separate them. (yes I am a coward) Cleaned the brake pistons. Now I think I deserve a little wind in my hair. Filter and hose on order.

I couldn't have done it with out help from the people on this site...Thank-you

Patrick Sorry havn't posted in a while........Riding [sm=burnout.gif]
