Default helibars for 88 cbr1000f

Hi All,

I'd like to get a set of HeliBars for my 1988 CBR1000f, but alas they are no longer made. Since the bike has 41mm forks, will another make/model fit? i.e. can I use VFR helibars on the CBR? It's pretty close to being comfortable with the stock bars, so 1" up and back should be a good place to start.

Thanx
Chris

I use telefix profli adjustable bars on my 95. They are both cheaper and more versitile than helibars, it that they can be raised or lowered at your pleasure. The attached pic shows them raised to their maximum level without having to swap out any cables, at which point I'm sitting upright- no weight on my wrists. Plus, loosening one bolt ber bar, you can lower them if you want to go blasting. I got mine off ebay, and the only place that I'm aware of in the US that sells them new is http://www.whaccessories.com/Handle%20bars.htm.

Also note, the telefix bars are hollow, so you'll need heavy bar end weights to keep the vibes down. I jury-rigged Kawi ZRX bar ends to use with my bars (nice and heavy) and they work well. Also, you'll either need to drill a hole in the left bar to accomodate the stock controls or cut off the dimple that goes in the hole in the stock bars to keep the controls from moving.

Check again. They're $200 for 41mm bars. Cheaper than most helibars.

Ok. For cheap bastards like Stray Cat (and myself), I googled telefix and these guys have them for $150. http://www.spec2.com/clips.html#clips

I found a set of helibars that were designed for a 1990 CBR1000f. I asked Heli if they would fit and they couldn't give me an answer. Does anyone here know if they will fit? I know the fork is the same diameter, I'm concerned about how they would fit in the fairing.

Thanx
Chris

I installed some genmar risers on my 90. They raise the height 3/4', and I had them on the bike in less than 10 minutes. Made a world of difference in riding comfort.

But......... the Genmar riser effect can be achieved by simply raising the bars on the fork tubes by 3/4 inch without using any risers. I thought about getting their risers until I realized this, though with the top caps they provide I'm sure they look nicer.
