With the neutral light coming on with the clutch lever pulled in and found a way to fix it???????
As many as there seem to be having the issue, I would think someone has found a fix for it.

If I'm looking @ the wiring diagram correctly, your rectifier diode is shot. supposed to send get a signal from either the clutch or neutral switch and send it to the ecm to let the bike start, but is letting voltage go through to the neutral light (only area on the wiring diagram where the wires directly meet)

From what I have read on here and the investigation I have done, I would agree. The problem is that I can not find were the diode is physically located to test it, nor can I find it on the fiche to get a replacement. If you could help any further in the search, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your reply.

Sorry, stuck @ work all day...

Download the Honda Common Service Manual

Go to section 24-8 (Clutch Diode test)

The symptoms of a faulty diode match EXACTLY what you're having. I'm still looking though the fiche to find a diode. I know it's located on the left side of the frame, tucked in the wiring harness right behind where your knee would go. Page 16-2 of the regular service manual has a diagram showing where the diode is located (it should be right next to the battery, front left corner)

EDIT: for whatever reason, Honda didn't list the diode in any fiche for the 1000f, but I found a diode in just about every other Honda wiring diagram and the part number is: 31730-MAS-601 and goes for about $9-11

THANK YOU so much for your useful insight. I have another wiring harness and not see what is the diode. I will remove both and check to verify if functioning correctly.

Cause I'm nice, I took a photo for you. Look for the bump in the harness by the tank cross-member. (yours' will look a slightly different because I re-wrapped my wiring harness)

unrecorded info is going in my "**** you never knew about the bike folder".

other than that Malbo is a helluva fine welder as well

Found it, replaced it with one from a used harness I purchased for just this type situation and back to normal.
Thanks malbojah for your help!
Do u know what the unit is called and how I can get a replacement? Do other years fit/work? How about from other bikes?
I had looked at that when I was looking for the "clutch diode" but had no idea that was it, it just looked like a cap for an empty plug connector.
Thanks again.
